Immaculate Heart of Mary School
Immaculate Heart of Mary School has served its surrounding neighborhood for generations. The school is a major cornerstone of the community with alumni families continuing to send their children to the school.
When Principal Allyson Alberto took over the reigns four years ago, she wanted to ensure that her school was not simply a school, but an institution that set its students on a path of success. In partnership with the school leadership and support provided by Together in Mission, Immaculate Heart provides a robust and diversified curriculum to its students both in and outside of the classroom.
“Because of Together in Mission, we aren’t simply a school that keeps its doors open. We provide a dynamic and robust education for all of our students, setting them on a path of success.”
– Allyson Alberto, Principal
With the implementation of blended learning, students’ comprehension and test scores have grown 82% in math and 65% in reading. Graduates of Immaculate Heart attend top performing high schools in the Archdiocese such as Loyola and LaSalle. In partnership with improved academic performance, Immaculate Heart has started a robust performing arts program. A few years ago, the program was a simple after-school choir, and a few musical lessons. Today the majority of the student body participate and the choir has even performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City and thirteen students were blessed to sing at the Vatican for Pope Francis.
“Now we have a thriving whole-school music program. We have found that this music program has increased student learning, test scores and improved critical thinking. Thank you, Together in Mission!”
– Christopher Avendano, Music Director
